GreenLight (Kids Debit Card)

Greenlight has made it easy for kids to practice earning and saving at an early age with experience on how to use a debit card. Once I heard about it a while ago, I jumped on the opportunity to teach my kids about ways to save their money without holding onto it all the time and cash just falling out their wallet. They have been able to practice skills within the app and are able to keep up with their chores as well as establish an understanding between a checking and savings.

Want to teach your children money management and how to EARN & SAVE? Want them to establish some kind of financial responsibility? Click GREENLIGHT to get started and order your cards. There are 2 cards shown in the graphic. The default (free card) is the regular card that just has the GL logo on it. For $10, you can create a custom card with their picture on it, which my kids LOVE.

Navigating Greenlight

Below are screenshots of my screen to give you insight on what it looks like when you sign up for an account. It shows how to set up chores which are visible for both kids and parents to see. The app schedules what chores are to be handled, the days and times it needs to be done by as well as sending out reminders. It also allows parents to set allowance up on autopilot. You are able to see spending and savings and ways to manage your cards.

Downloading the App

Go to the App Store on your phone and search Greenlight. The app should look like this below.

Me, my husband and both our children have the app on our phones to help us keep up with everything and so that we can all see what is going on. The process has been amazing for our family and I hope that this article helped you get started with incorporating this into your family's routine!
